Contact Photo is pleased to announce the opening of Catch and Keep, a solo exhibition by Stefaun Maldonado.
This exhibition presents selections from an ongoing body of work immersed in New York City’s deeply rooted tradition of pigeon flying. Through intimate photographs centered in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Maldonado documents the day-to-day lives of flyers — the caretakers and stewards of these rooftop coops.
This long-term project explores the world of pigeon flying through themes of responsibility, heritage, community, and escapism, offering a close look at a culture that continues to exist above the city streets.
